The Need for an Optimum Health Plan

You probably know that your health should be a priority in your life, yet like so many of my clients, you’ve probably placed your health on the back burner, leaving it unattended. That is until you go to the doctor with an unexpected pain somewhere in your body or a severe illness. That’s when you start to pay attention.

That’s simply not an optimum health plan.

An optimum health plan is one where you take action in advance. Taking a little preventative action up front will allow you not only to feel better almost immediately, it’ll also add years to your life and life to your years.

Using Your Optimum Health Plan for Healthy Weight Management

While many Americans are overweight and are trying to slim down, most aren’t trying to lose weight for the right reasons.

They want to lose weight temporarily to look good at a certain event like a wedding or a reunion. Although it’s good to look good for these types of gatherings an optimum health plan involves more than superficial reasons for losing weight.

Instead of losing weight only to look good, start an optimum health plan to improve your overall health and wellness.

Healthy Weight Management Should Be about You, Not about Anybody Else

The problem with trying to improve yourself for someone else is your motivation can and often does change if your relationship changes. Your motivation needs from within you, not from someone else.

What you’ll find is the deeper your commitment is to your health, the easier it will be to stick to your healthy diet and exercise program.

An Optimum Health Plan is About Loving Yourself

To be truly successful you need to love yourself. That’s because people are drawn to others who have self-esteem and confidence. By taking care about your well being you’ll send a subconscious message for others to do the same.

Here are Four Tips for Building an Optimum Health Plan:

1. Make a Doctor’s Appointment

An indispensible partner in building your optimum health plan is your doctor. So if you haven’t seen your doctor for a while or if you are in need of an annual checkup, start by making an appointment to get your health evaluated.

Your doctor can help evaluate where you are and can help you build an optimum health plan around your present level of fitness. This will give you a good foundation for what improvements you need to make.

2. Start an Exercise Program           

An exercise program doesn’t mean going to the gym five days a week or running for miles every morning. The best exercise program is a routine you can incorporate regularly into your lifestyle.

Your exercise program can be as simple as walking 30 or 40 minutes three or four days a week. All you need to do is put on your shoes, go outdoors and start walking. Not only will the fresh air and the walk do wonders for your health, getting outside will re-connect you to the wonders of the natural world.

3. Start a Healthy Eating Program

Most people eat too much sugar and too much read meat. So to begin with try reducing red meat, refined sugars and alcohol. Your optimum health plan should include more fish, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Another part of your optimum health plan should be eating a healthy breakfast. This will do a lot for both healthy weight management and your energy level.

Finally don’t skip meals and drink plenty of water throughout the day as well.

Remember, you are what you eat. If you eat continue to eat unhealthy foods, you’ll most likely end up with chronic health issues like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes, just to name a few.

Begin eating the kind of fuel your body needs. The healthier foods you eat, the better you’ll feel and the stronger you’ll become.

4. Schedule Down Time

An optimum health plan includes your mental health. Good mental health means making time to relax. You can do this by incorporating relaxation techniques into your lifestyle.

In addition to reducing stress and anxiety, relaxation exercises recharge and re-energize you so you can bring more passion to all areas of your life.

For relaxation exercises try using yoga, tai chi or meditation. Also hobbies can be a great way to relax and bring more contentment and happiness into your life.
