Do you have a positive mindset or a negative one?

At the start of the day most people really have neither. They wait and let the world outside them let them know if their going to have a positive mental attitude or a negative one.

But there are ways to control your mindset and consistently have a positive mental attitude. There are simple things you can do to improve the way you look at life. You can set your mindset positively.

The trick to keeping a positive mental attitude is you have to decide to use the following tips every day. By practicing every day, you’ll set your mindset in the direction of success and fulfillment.

Here are 8 easy techniques you can use to create a positive mental attitude:

1. Stop Dwelling on Things You Can’t Control

Maybe there’s just one thing, like the guy who cut you off on the freeway that has seemingly ruined your day. Just let it go!

When you let it go you are no longer allowing the guy who cut you off to control you anymore. You can’t control him!

By deciding to let it go you are giving yourself the opportunity to have a positive mental attitude. This will allow you to look for the good things in your life.  Which leads us to number 2…

2. Look for the Good

Look everybody has a bad day or even a week but this is not a reason to let negativity cloud your thinking. Look for the silver lining in every challenging situation.

Maybe you need to go through this situation so you can grow big enough for the next level. Keeping a positive mindset will help you get through it.

Remember: the greater the challenge the greater the victory.

3. Forget the Past

Forget the past. By allowing yourself to forget the past you can break out of your present patterns. This will allow you to look for new solutions.

Remember that the past is the past; it doesn’t need to keep repeating itself.

When you keep recalling the past, you are the one taking it with you into your future. Let it go – no matter how painful it might have been.

Your future can be filled with great things, but a great future can only start when you’ve come to terms with your past.

4. Be Grateful

Of all the things you can do to build a positive mental attitude none is greater than being grateful for what you have now.

Make a list of all the things you’re thankful for in your life. Include even the smallest things, like the lucky penny you found on the street or the loving hug your partner gave you today.

If you’re like most people you’ll end up with a long list of things to be grateful for that that you can look to whenever you feel like you need your mindset rejuvenated.

5. Use Positive Daily Affirmations

In order to build a positive mental attitude you have to use positive daily affirmations.

Nothing brings out the optimism that comes with a positive mindset like the use of positive daily affirmations. These positive statements bring optimistic energy into your present.

Positive daily affirmations are a way of communicating with your subconscious mind so you can maintain control over how you feel. Use your positive daily affirmations well, every day, and every time you feel you need a positive boost.

6. Keep the Company of Positive People  

We all need to have people around us. We need other people because humans are social beings. Just make sure that the people you surround yourself with have a positive mental attitude.

You want to have people around you that have a positive attitude, supportive friends and family members. Just being around people with a positive mindset can lift you up when you’re feeling down and you can do the same for them.

7. Watch What You Say to Yourself and Others

What you say on a regular basis affects your attitude. Do you speak positively to yourself and others, or are you judgmental and negative?

In order to maintain a positive mental attitude you need to make a decision to choose to speak positively. Practice using upbeat words while you focus on finding the positive in every situation.

8. Remember Life has Ups and Downs

No matter how positive your mindset is life will throw curveballs at you every once in a while. While life won’t always be perfect, there are many ways you can still make the best of it.


Accept the fact that bad things will happen from time to time, but don’t allow yourself to dwell on them. This will allow you to bounce back and get ready for your next challenge.
