Optimum Health for a Lifetime of Joy

“He who has health, has hope. And he who has hope, has everything.”Arabian Proverb

Optimum health is something that everyone wants but very few people have. Most people just don’t know how to take care of their bodies.

There are a few things anyone can do that will improve their health. One is just listening t o your body’s signals.

If you listen, your body gives you a ton of signals to let you know its needs. You can use these signals to do what’s necessary to make the adjustments needed to achieve optimal health. If you tune in to what your body is telling you, staying healthy and optimum health will be in your reach.

Here are 4 Healthy Habits You Can Use to Gain and Maintain Optimum Health

1. Take a Morning Health Assessment

Listen to what your body is telling you each morning. The early morning hours after you first wake up are an ideal time for you to listen for your body’s signals.

In the early morning, it’s typically quiet. This allows you to pay closer attention to your body’s signals.

Some things to look for are…

Are you experiencing any new aches or pains?

Are you feeling tired and lousy, even after a sound night’s sleep?

Do you have any ailments, upset stomach, sore throat, etc. that you didn’t have when you went to sleep?

Make a habit every morning to determine whether you feel different from the morning before.

2. Determine How Your Food Choices Affect You

In order to achieve optimum health you need to feed your body optimum fuel. The foods you eat can and often do make a huge difference in how you feel.

Figure out what foods energize you and what foods make you sluggish. Do you find that you’re more energetic when you eat more fruits and vegetables? Does eating bread or other food made from wheat cause your stomach to react negatively? How about milk products?

Another thing you can do to maintain optimum health is to plan ahead.

It can be tough to maintain proper nutrition in this hustle bustle world. If you’re always on the go you can get very hungry. This can result in you making some extremely poor food choices. So bring healthy snacks to munch on and, if you are always on the road, find healthy restaurants you can eat at regularly.

Take the time to determine what kind of impact your food choices have on your body.

3. Get Your Annual Health Checkup

One of the easiest things you can do to maintain optimum health is to get annual health checkups.

No matter whether you’ve seen or felt anything to worry about, regular checkups at your doctor’s are very important, just to make sure everything is still all in one piece.

Your cholesterol or blood pressure can be high and you’ll have no idea. That’s why high blood pressure is known as the silent killer.

For optimum health make sure you put a routine in place for doing regular checkups and then stick to it.

4. Stay Within Your Body’s Physical Capabilities

Although it’s sometimes not so easy to face, as you age your body’s capabilities change. Unless you’re a world class athlete, training for world class competition, it doesn’t matter how healthy and in good shape you think you are in, you need to know when to step back and not work so hard.

There’s only so much your body can manage. No matter whether it’s your physical exercise program or the mental workout you get at work, it’s important to know your limits so you don’t end up burned out and physically exhausted.

While it’s fine to work out until your muscles feel tired, if your recovery time is longer than you expected you’re probably overdoing it. You need to calibrate your workouts so you feel worn, not worn out.

The same goes for mental exhaustion.

You may want to power through the long, stressful hours at work but unless you take time for rest and recovery you might find yourself feeling drained and motionless in bed when you should be up getting ready for work.

Staying Healthy Means Paying Attention

You can’t have optimum health if you’re not taking care of yourself or constantly overdoing it. Pay attention to what your body’s telling you. These signals are a crucial part of maintaining optimum health.

You only have one body to take you through this short vacation on earth. Make sure you listen to its signals. Then you’ll be able to enjoy optimum health for a lifetime!
