Developing Vision – One the Habits of Highly Successful People

habits of highly successful people“Where there is no vision, the people perish”King Solomon (Proverbs 29:18)

In order to be successful you have to have a vision of what success is for you. As King Solomon said, if you don’t have a vision, a plan for your life, you’ll just whither and die.

One of the habits of highly successful people is they do have a vision for their lives. If you struggle with creating and carrying out your vision then this article might be just what you’re looking for.

Putting Vision – One of the Habits of Highly Successful People to Work for You

As I mention before, one of the habits of highly successful people is having and plan or a vision of what they want for their lives and then pursuing that vision. If you find yourself living day to day without a plan and feeling like you’ve lost your focus don’t despair.

The following is how highly successful people develop and follow their vision for the future and how you can too:

1. Put “Me” Time in Your Calendar

Highly successful people put time in their schedule to do nothing but reflect on life. When you make the time to ponder how far you’ve come and where you’re headed you are giving a priority to your vision and future.

The number one habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is to schedule “Me” time to develop your life vision in your calendar every day.

2. Ask Yourself “Is this what I really want from my life?”

Take time to look at where you’ve been and where you are now. This inventory of your life might be a rather daunting process but it can help open your eyes to possibilities you may have overlooked.

Be honest with yourself about any choices you’ve made that were diversions. Did you make any choices that prevented you from continuing with your plans?

Ask yourself, “What were my biggest mistakes”?

Now ask yourself “What did I learn from them?”

Also ask yourself “Which of these choices turn out to be wise and why?”

While this process can be challenging, the end result could produce one amazing life that’s custom designed for you.

The number two habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is to acknowledge fully what’s happened in your past and determine whether you’re on the track you want to be on at this time.

3. Keep Track – Write it Down

When people rely on their memories facts often get distorted. In order to get an accurate picture of your life you need to jot down some notes about it.

While you also want to keep track of the things you know need improving, the key is to focus on your accomplishments. Keep a journal of the things you accomplish. Often we forget about all the great things we’ve done because we fail to write them down.

When you do something extraordinary at work, write it down. When you’re exceptionally patient with your teen aged son, write it down.

By writing down and then reviewing your accomplishments you begin to see yourself as a doer, someone who can accomplish what they set out to do.

The number three habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is to keep track of your accomplishments in a journal or notebook.

4. Set goals and write them down now.

Make a new list of your current goals as well as your desires and wishes for the future.

Maybe you want a promotion at work. What has to happen in order for it to occur? After setting your major goal, create the mini-goals necessary to help you meet your goal of getting that promotion. Leave nothing out.

For example, if you need to complete two business classes at the local college, include those as goals.

Writing down your goals keeps you motivated while holding you accountable for their achievement. As you accomplish each smaller goal make sure to list it in your accomplishments. This will give you feedback on your progress. You will feel great as you check them off and review them.

The number four habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is to keep your goals in your journal where you can regularly refer to them.

5. Make a vision board.

A vision board is simply pictures of your goals. Use photos from magazines and write inspiring words related to the photos you choose to place on your board. Your vision board is simply a graphic reminder of what you’re working toward every day.

If your goal is to own a certain house put it on your dream board. If your goal is to have a certain figure put it on your dream board.

You can also post your life aspirations on your mirror, refrigerator, Smartphone, electronic pad, or bulletin board.

You might even put a copy by your favorite chair in the living room where you can look at them often.

The number five habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is to keep your vision is right in front of you.

6. Decide whether you’re living in “the right place.”

Highly successful people understand what all realtors tell you when buying property. It’s all about location, location, location.

As yourself, “Does my current home location meet my employment, personal, and financial needs? Is this a location aligned with my life’s vision?”

If you find that it doesn’t then you need to consider your options.

If you find that it doesn’t are you willing to move away? If you are willing to make the change then include on your goal list everything you must do to get ready to move.

The number six habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is having the right location to build your vision.

7. Prioritize your vision making activities.

Of all the habits of highly successful people, this one is the one most often overlooked. In order to accomplish your vision it needs to be constantly on your radar. The reason most people fail in achieving their goals is because life gets in the way and they lose track of their vision.

In order to accomplish you goals you must make your vision your top priority.

By making your vision you top priority you align your future decisions and actions with them so you take options that support it.

The number seven habit of highly successful people in finding and following their vision that you can also adopt is to make following your vision your top priority.
