Relax with Self Hypnosis

I have been a practicing certified hypnotherapist and Master NLP practitioner for about a decade, using advanced hypnosis methods and Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques to help people work on issues ranging from losing weight to stopping addictions such as smoking.

These methods are very powerful ways of helping people shift their thinking and change their lives.

Today I’d like to focus on hypnosis and more particularly, self hypnosis

What is Hypnosis?  

While some people believe that hypnosis is a mystical or magical process, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Hypnosis is simply a process of communicating with your subconscious mind by bypassing your conscious thinking. This allows you to focus on shifting your mindset so that you can achieve a goal or change your views on an idea such as smoking or overeating.

You can experience hypnosis either with the aid of a certified hypnotherapist or by yourself.  The “do it to yourself” process is known as self hypnosis.

What is Self Hypnosis?  

A simple explanation of self hypnosis is hypnosis done by a person to themself by relaxing their body and conscious mind and then inducing themself into a hypnotic state.

Through the process of self hypnosis you can realign your subconscious thoughts with your conscious desires. Using this process you can shift your thinking and make improvements in various areas of your life, including your health, prosperity thinking as well as self confidence.

Uses of Self Hypnosis

Hypnosis is one of the best ways to reduce your stress levels. It helps by helps relaxing and calming your body and conscious mind.

Self hypnosis is also used to help people quit smoking and lose weight.

Other uses of self hypnosis are doing better at work or at school. Also it is often used by athletes to focus and achieve at higher levels.

Some Common Concerns about Hypnosis

A lot of people have some fairly common concerns about hypnosis. One of the most common is the fear of the being mind controlled.

This fear is a result of people watching a stage hypnotist ”make” people bark like dogs or cluck like chickens in their acts. While these people appear to be doing what the hypnotist is asking them to do they are in complete control of their actions.

If the hypnotist were able to control other people they could simply go into a bank and “make” a teller give them money.

This simply doesn’t happen.

The fact is that while you are in a hypnotic state you are in complete control of everything that happens.

Nobody can make you do anything you don’t want to do.

Another common concern is the fear of being unable to wake up. Although common, there is no need to concern yourself about falling asleep forever while in hypnosis.

While in a hypnotic trance you aren’t asleep, rather you’re in a very relaxed state.

If you were to fall asleep during a hypnosis session you’ll wake up the same as you would after any nap. After a nap you don’t have to tell yourself to wake up, you just wake up naturally.

How to Begin Your Self Hypnosis Session

To bring yourself into a hypnotic state, just get into a comfortable position in a chair or on your bed or couch. This will allow your conscious mind to begin to relax and focus and on one thought.

After you begin to relax you can begin to give yourself the suggestions of the things you’d like to work on. To wake yourself up you can just tell yourself to wake up slowly or slowly count up from one to five.

If you record your session it may be helpful to add “I will wake up and I will feel energized to work on my goal” in your script   .

Your Self Hypnosis Script

Your self hypnosis script is the set of magic words you record or say to yourself during your hypnosis session. You can also repeat your suggestion to yourself as an affirmation throughout the day, just like a mantra.

A good self hypnosis script is short. The best are short, positive suggestions that can be easily memorized. Say it as if you’ve already completed a part of your goal.

For example, a good suggestion would be one like “My healthy eating and exercise habits allow me to weigh 170 pounds.”

It doesn’t matter if you believe your script. If you’ve already believed it, you wouldn’t need to keep repeating it to yourself.

Your self hypnosis script is to shift your thinking so you can convince yourself you can achieve your goal.
