How to Stop Negative Thinking and Create the Life of your Dreams

stop negative thinking

Stop negative thinking and develop a positive attitude!

Do you find negative thoughts constantly bubbling out of your mind? Do these thoughts make it’s seem like you’re viewing the world through dark, dreary filters?

You can stop negative thinking and replace it with a positive mental attitude. By undergoing a change in your disposition you’ll feel a lot better about yourself plus you’ll start getting more positive results.

When you stop your negative thinking, you’ll start changing your results.

Use the following tips to stop negative and create a positive mental attitude:

1. Be okay with having negative thoughts

Look, you’re human and no matter who you are, negative thoughts are going zoom through your head every once in a while.

When that happens, don’t beat yourself up because you’ve experience less-than-positive ideas. Instead, think about those thoughts as being an unavoidable part of your life that you can easily deal with.

• Life isn’t perfect. Get overt it!

• When you find those negative thoughts floating though your mind look for something you can be positive about, even if it’s just that you’re alive and breathing.

2. Take responsibility for everything in your life – especially your thoughts

Your thoughts are coming from within you. Take responsibility for that. Once you take responsibility for your thoughts you can begin to control them.

3. Share only the positive with others

Now that you’ve taken responsibility for thinking negative thoughts, promise yourself you’ll only share the positive with those around you.

• If you’re having a challenging situation, make sure only to share the challenge, not your negative feelings.

4. Turn your frown upside down

When you were a child did your mom ever tell you “Turn your frown upside down” to put you into a better mood? She was telling you was you can control how you feel with your physiology.

• If you’re feeling bad find something to feel good about. Maybe it’s your relationship or maybe it’s your health or maybe it’s just that you’re alive. Whatever it is, focus your thinking on it.

5. Find something positive in every situation

When you experience a negative thought about a person or situation, instead of mulling over your negative feelings, write down something positive about it. Keep a pad of paper and something to write with or an electronic device to capture your positive ideas close by at all times.

• Maybe you’re having a particular hard time at work instead of focusing on the bad situation focus on the fact that you have a job that allows you to pay your bills!

• Writing down the positives allows you to read them later. This exercise can shift your disposition quickly in a positive, constructive way.

6. Don’t sweat the small stuff

When a tough situation arises tell yourself “Don’t sweat the small stuff “over and over again. And remember; it’s all small stuff! In a short time you’ll have put whatever it was behind you and you’ll be ready to move on with your day.

7. Visualize positive events coming into your life

Some people say they can’t visualize anything. That’s simply not true! People use visualization all the time, the problem is they are visualizing things they don’t want in their life rather than the things they do want in their life.

Visualization is simply using your imagination. Start by imagining what you want your day to be like. Once you’ve done this for a few days start to stretch your visualization further out into the future.

• By using your imagination to focus on the good things that are yet to come you will shine a positive light that will cut through the darkness brought about by negative thinking.

• If you find you are having challenges with visualization try getting a hypnotherapist to help you. Many of my San Diego clients have found that hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques are powerful tools for helping them develop their visualization capabilities.

8. Recognize your accomplishments

Now that you’re starting to take charge of thinking, take time to acknowledge your efforts. You can even give yourself a reward to help you maintain your positivity.

You Can Develop a Positive Mental Attitude!

Start using these tips to stop your negative thinking and start having a more positive mental attitude.

By shifting the way you think about your life you’ll change your disposition and adopt a more positive perspective. Within a short while you’ll learn to side-step the negatives in your life. This will allow your life to be full of the positive and live the life of your dreams.
