Your Subconscious Mind

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.”Earl Nightingale

That’s a great quote by a very wise man.

I think what Earl was saying is “your subconscious mind is the boss of you”.

Most psychologists agree.

Your subconscious mind processes information and automatically determines what actions to take.

By understanding how your subconscious works, you can learn to program it for success.

This can open the doors to living an abundant, fulfilling life.

What is the Subconscious Mind?

Psychologists often compare the mind to an iceberg. Like all icebergs, this iceberg has two parts, one above the surface and one below.

The conscious mind is like the part of the iceberg that you can see. It’s above the surface.

The subconscious is below the surface.

The Role of Your Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind is a huge storehouse of information, more than your conscious mind could ever handle.

Your brain processes about 11 million bits of information a second.

About 40 of those bits of information are processed in your conscious mind. The other 10,999,960 bits are processed in your subconscious mind.

Your automatic behaviors, such as how you brush your teeth or drive your car are all processes of your subconscious mind. So are your beliefs and instincts.

Your long term memories are also stored in your subconscious mind. Although they may fade over time, everything you’ve ever seen or heard is sitting somewhere in your subconscious.

All this stored information affects your current thoughts, decisions, and actions.

Studies of the Subconscious

Sigmund Freud, the father of modern Psychiatry, believed that all your problems are a result of what you’ve stored in your subconscious.

He felt if you could access your subconscious thoughts you can change your life’s direction.

While there are some differing views about this, most people who study human behavior agree that accessing your subconscious mind is the quickest and easiest way to implement the changes you want in your life.

But like an iceberg, the lion’s share of your mind – your subconscious mind- is hidden from view and lies below the surface.

Beliefs and Your Subconscious Mind

Your Subconscious Mind
Ever had a “feeling” about something?

Have you ever had a “feeling” about something and then found out that your “feeling” was correct?

Of course, we all have.

The source of that feeling was probably your subconscious mind.

W. Clement Stone once said, ”Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

The reason this is a fact is because of the great powers of your subconscious mind.

Your beliefs motivate you and encourage you. Your beliefs make it possible to do things that you never consciously thought were possible.

Of course you can continue the on your present path and receive the same results you’ve been getting.

A better choice is to alter your future by communicating what you want – your dreams and goals – to your subconscious mind.

Taking Back Your Beliefs

“What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.”Tony Robbins

Believing in the powers of your subconscious mind is the first step on the path to living the life you desire.

By opening up a communications link with your subconscious mind you put your personal development plan into high gear.

If You Could What Would You Do?

What talents you’d like to develop?

What qualities in your life would you’d like to strengthen?

What challenges would you like to overcome?

You can do all these things – and more – simply by tapping into the power of your subconscious mind.

Eliminate Fears and Phobias

You can also communicate with your subconscious mind on larger issues, like overcoming the fear of flying or speaking in public, or eliminating negative habits like smoking or overeating or even installing new positive habits like exercising.

By tapping into the core of the issue in your subconscious, you can change it.

The benefits your can receive are boundless!

Communicating With Your Subconscious Mind

There are several methods you can use communicate with your subconscious mind which will help you with the changes you desire.

Reading and Other Positive Input

One method is consistently reading, listening to recordings of positive mantras, and repeating affirmations.

There is a ton of literature as well as recordings you can use to help you focus your mind on success.

In fact you can pick up a bunch of it on this website!

You can use these positive statements replace negative thinking and doubt with positive images and beliefs.

You can also use them to affirm your good qualities and bring out the best in you.

Your conscious mind tries to screen your sensory information.

But everything you see, hear, taste, smell and touch is stored in your subconscious mind.

Some information can be brought up easily.

Other information is harder to access.

Improving Communications

You can use hypnosis to communicate with your subconscious mind.

This shifts your thinking helping make changes to your life.

Sometimes you can bring this information up easily, other times it is buried behind years of habit and hard to access.

You Don’t “Go Under”

In a hypnotic state you’re not asleep; you’re actually in a state of heightened awareness.

By relaxing your conscious mind you’re able to communicate with your subconscious, making it more open to positive suggestions.

It’s this openness that helps you to make positive progress.

Getting Professional Help

For most people it’s very helpful to have a certified hypnotherapist help you through the process of hypnosis.

This is especially true when you first begin using trace work or hypnosis.

But after you become more comfortable with the process you can begin to employ self-hypnosis techniques.

You can even find CDs and videos that will guide you completely through a self-hypnosis session.

Neuro Linguistic Programming Techniques

Neuro Linguistic Programming comes from three areas:

1) Neuro – How you mind thinks and processes the information it takes in from the outside world through sight, sound, hearing, taste and touch.

2) Linguistic – How you use language and how you describe the information you take.

3) Programming – The processes involved in making the decisions of what actions you need to take to achieve your goals and dreams.

You Can Take Control of Control of Your Subconscious Mind

You take in information through your senses, what you see hear feel, taste and touch.

You mix the information you take in along with your beliefs and past experience to interpret or make sense of the world.

Your interpretation or map of the world guides your decisions and actions.

The problem is that maps can be inaccurate. An inaccurate map can make it difficult if not impossible to reach your destination or goal.

Using Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques you can improve your communications with your subconscious and conscious minds.

This helps you to develop a better, more accurate map.

With a more accurate map you have more freedom to make better decisions and take better actions.

It’s that simple.

Take Control of Your Subconscious Mind

You don’t have to let negative thoughts and beliefs control you.

Pick up some books or start listening to some positive recordings or go see a certified hypnotherapist or NLP Practitioner.

Just take action.

As Earl Nightingale said so long ago, “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.”
