How to Reverse Negative Hypnosis

You Can Learn to Reverse Negative Hypnosis

Your thoughts and beliefs about your capabilities, the world around you, and your life in general powerfully affect your everyday existence. If you let negative hypnosis take over, disempowering beliefs can develop and turn into roadblocks that are downright destructive to living a successful, fulfilling life.

“It is no exaggeration to say that every human being is hypnotized to some extent, either by ideas he (she) has uncritically accepted from others, or he (she) has repeated to himself or convinced himself (herself) are true.”Maxwell Maltz

These thoughts can drag you down and are sometimes known, as Maxwell Matlz pointed out in his book Psycho Cybernetics, as negative hypnosis.

The good news is that if you can identify those self-sabotaging thoughts, you can then reverse the negative hypnosis and start developing the life you desire.

The following is a list of negative hypnosis thoughts and affirmations people sometimes say to themselves.

If you recognize any of these negative hypnotic suggestions you can replace them with the following, more empowering ones.

1. “No matter how hard I work, I’ll never be able to have the life of my dreams.”

How can you possibly continue to work toward your dreams if you believe this statement?

Can you see how this negatively hypnotizes you?

This negative thinking acts as a huge roadblock to any success. In fact, it can lead to what psychologists call ‘learned helplessness” keeping you from making any efforts whatsoever toward what you want.

If you are thinking something like this resolve to get rid of that thought this instant.

• Replace that thought with an empowering statement such as, “Every day my efforts move me toward the life that I want. Here’s how I plan to get there.”

2. “It’s just like my mom said; I can’t ever do anything right.”

Did you know that Johnny Carson’s mom continued to demean his accomplishments, even in public until she died? No matter how hard he tried and how well he did, she never gave him any credit or positive feedback.

Maybe you, like Johnny, weren’t lucky enough to have parents that gave you any good feedback at all.

Your mom or dad said demeaning statements to you or always overlooked the potential you had.

• Remember, somebody else’s opinion of you, even your parent’s doesn’t have to be your opinion of you.

You can, just like Johnny Carson go on to amazing achievements once you decide to leave those self-deprecating beliefs you learned from your parents behind for good.

Create your own truth through the actions you take each day to live your life to the fullest.

3. “I’m just not attractive enough to get the partner I want.”

If you ask most people on a scale of 1 to 10 how attractive they are most people will tell you about a 7.

That’s curious because most people are just average looking so that means they should say “5”.

Look around you. You’ll see all kinds of people with all kinds of partners, most of who don’t look like the models you see in magazines and in the media.

• You, like every other person in the world, has her own unique look (unless you’re a twin or multiple).

• Take an honest look at yourself and notice your strengths – deep brown eyes or a strong build.

• Learn to accept yourself the way you are and f you’ve got some characteristics that are changeable that you’re able to alter through some changes to your lifestyle, make the commitment to do the work needed to make those changes.

Thank goodness all people don’t like or want the same type of partner.

Finally remember, if you’re open you can find the right partner for you.

4. “My life is just this way; I can’t do anything about it.”

This type of thinking will get you stuck in a rut permanently.

One of my all time idols, Bruce Lee once said, “To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”

Stop waiting for life to do something for you. You need to take the bull by the horns and create the life you want to live, step by step, day by day.

• Instead of hypnotizing yourself negatively, use your mind to hypnotize you to create the type of life that you want.

Use your imagination to construct the life you seek.

5. “I don’t have enough brains to get the kind of job I want.”

In his great book, “The Magic of Thinking Big, David Schwartz called this kind of thinking ”Intelligence excusitus”.

In his book he goes on to say, “Most of us make two basic errors with respect to intelligence:

1. We underestimate our own brainpower.

2. We overestimate the other fellow’s brainpower.”

If you hypnotize yourself to thinking you don’t have enough brains you’re just convincing yourself that you can’t have the kind of career you really desire and long for.

Instead, as “The Magic of Thinking Big” points out, tell yourself, “My attitudes are more important than my intelligence.”

You don’t have to be the “sharpest tool in the shed” to land the job of your dreams. You just have to have an attitude that allows you to succeed.

• Don’t underestimate your own brainpower. Make the commitment to do whatever it takes to get the career you really desire.

6. “I’m no good with money. I’ll never be able to get my finances under control.”

When you hypnotize yourself with this type of thinking you will devastate your financial future.

Recognize that you are 100% responsible for your finances and start to take steps to put it under control.

Remember it’s not how much money you make, its how much money you keep and save that will determine your financial future.

• Make and keep a budget.  Your budget that will ensure that you’ll save what you need regardless of the amount you earn.

If you need to, visit a budget counselor to help you get your bills paid off.

Stop the Negative Hypnosis Today!

Using the tips above you can change the way you think about your life.

Decide to discard your old, destructive beliefs. Replace them with new, empowering, positive ways of thinking.

Think about what Charles R. Swindoll once said, “Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what people do or say. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.”

With the right attitude your life can be one of abundance and prosperity.

Go ahead and commit to taking the first steps to build that attitude today.
