Creating a Healthy Mindset Can Give You Permanent Weight Loss!

Creating and maintaining a healthy mindset is critical if you want permanent weight loss.

Often the clients that come to my San Diego office to use hypnotherapy (hypnosis) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to lose weight want to lose weight for a special occasion or event. While hypnotherapy and NLP can be helpful for these types of situations, I try to explain that if their goal is permanent weight loss and staying healthy for a lifetime they need to develop a healthy mindset.

What is a Healthy Mindset?

A healthy mindset is your attitude toward life. It involves the way you approach eating and exercise. It involves your self image and the way you feel about your body.

Staying healthy involves developing a healthy mindset, a mindset that incorporates a lifestyle that involves the same healthy habits needed for permanent weight loss.

Why is Staying Healthy So Difficult?

The day to day stress of modern life can make it difficult to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, if you start following healthy habits today you can develop the healthy mindset you need for remaining healthy for a lifetime.

An added bonus is you won’t have to worry about losing weight because your healthy mindset will have helped you create the habits you need for permanent weight loss.

Permanent Weight Loss Means Taking Action

No matter what approach you take, permanent weight loss involves taking action. This is something I explain to my San Diego clients when they come to me for help with hypnotherapy and NLP for weight loss.

There is no pill, no therapy that can give you permanent weight loss. Long term, permanent weight loss involves a change in habits.

This change in habits begins with developing a healthy mindset.

Barriers to a Healthy Mindset

One problem people run into when attempting to create a healthy mindset is they sit back, look at their lives, and wish they could view things in a more positive manner. Then, when the more positive mindset doesn’t suddenly appear, they beat themselves up for being negative. Some actually begin to hate themselves for not having the attitude and responses they wish they had.

How a Negative Mindset Affects You

While this type of negative reaction is common it just won’t do you any good at all. Reacting this way can actually make you feel depressed and cause you to eat poorly as you sit or lie on the coach.

You Can Change Your Mindset

Instead of feeling depressed and angry with yourself for responding to life the way you normally do, there are ways that will help you develop a healthy mindset and regularly think positively about staying healthy.

Staying Healthy Means Managing Stress

If you want to stay healthy you need to find ways to deal with the stress in your life. In addition to putting strain on your body, stress can actually put weight on it too.

While everyone has their own ways of dealing with stress, a great stress management technique can be writing about what’s bugging you in a journal every day. This can help you identify your stressors.

You can also talk with your friends or join a support group. Other options are practicing meditation or joining a Yoga class,

While stress management is needed for creating a healthy mindset, how you do it is up to you.

Nutrition, Sleep and a Healthy Mindset

No matter how you slice it, having a healthy mindset, permanent weight loss and staying healthy all involve eating the right foods.  It also involves getting enough rest.

Feeding your body healthy, nutritious foods and getting the rest you need helps you to just plain feel better. Good nutrition and sleep regenerate your attitude, as well as your body.

While food and rest will not change the way you respond to things and give you a healthy mindset immediately, especially if you tend to respond negatively, it is a great start to changing your habits and staying healthy.

You won’t have to give up all your favorite junk food; you can eat nearly anything in moderation. You also won’t have to give up all your late night activities.

What you can do is instead of eating French fries late at night while you watch Leno is you can swap the fries for carrot sticks or a cup of herbal tea. You also can swap the late night viewing for a recording of the show you watch when you get home at night.

Action Leads to a Healthy Mindset

Your mindset will follow the actions you take. As you take active steps to deal with your stress and as you treat your body with the tender loving care it deserves you’ll find a healthy mindset comes almost naturally. You’ll find your world a much more positive place when you pair action up with positive thinking.

Using Positive Affirmations for Staying Healthy

Your healthy mindset will begin to grow roots when you start affirming the positives in your life. Use the power of positive affirmations to help reprogram your mind. These affirmations will help you to think positive and in a healthier way.

You can reinforce your healthy mindset by saying your positive affirmations out loud every morning. These are affirmations such as, “I make positive choices for staying healthy and fit for my lifetime.”

You can use that same affirmation if you have a moment of weakness, such as when you are tempted to fill up on junk food, have a negative reaction, or stay up late watching Mob Wives on TV.

Creating Permanent Weight Loss

Permanent weight loss will happen automatically once you develop a healthy mindset. In fact when staying healthy becomes a priority, permanent weight loss naturally follows.

So make a decision to develop and maintain a healthy mindset. Make good choices about food, rest, and start thinking positive.

Follow this plan and you’ll begin to enjoy the new ways you think, feel, and live. Staying healthy will become the way you’ve decided to live.
