Do you know how to use ‘The Secret’?

Have you read the book ‘The Secret’ or seen the movie? In it, its author, Rhonda Bryne, brings a number of Law of Attraction experts together to explain how to use ‘The Secret’ in your life.

I know many people who have either read the book or seen the movie (or both) but complain that even though they’ve tried to incorporate the tips into their lives, they’ve failed. Maybe you’ve had a similar experience.

If you have tried to incorporate ‘The Secret’ into your life but haven’t been successful you can change that. There are some simple things you can do to put the law of attraction to work for you.

Using the following tips you can use take the information from ‘The Secret’ and start putting the law of attraction to work in your life.

Putting the Law of Attraction to Work in Your Daily Life

Make a List

The basic premise of ‘The Secret’ is what you think about on a consistent basis is what you will receive. If you think about lack you’ll receive lack but if you focus on abundance you’ll receive abundance.

The first thing you need to do to stay on track with your desires is to make a list. If you just keep what you want in your head your images will be vague and out of focus.

Lists help you crystallize your thoughts. To develop a list that focuses your thoughts on what you desire use the following techniques:

Be specific.

Would you like to be out of debt? Instead of writing down “I am out of debt” visualize that you are earning more money than you need to achieve your dreams.

Imagine your credit card statements with a zero balance. Now that you have all the money you need, imagine what you’ll do with it.

Instead of a general list, specify what you desire, down to the smallest detail.

Use Story Boards and Other Visual Reminders

A story board is simply a board that has photos and pictures of the things you want. Your story board keeps you focused.

For example, if you are looking to buy a home, find pictures of the exact types of homes that you want. Start to go to open houses and take photos of what you like. Put those photos on your story board.

You can put anything you want to attract on your story board.

For example, Jim Carrey tells a story about writing a check to himself for $10 million when he was a poor busboy living in his car. In the memo portion he wrote the note “For acting services rendered” and postdated it for Thanksgiving of 1995.

He looked at that check every night before falling off to sleep. Then on Thanksgiving 1995 he received a check for $10 million for his part in “Dumb and Dumber.”

Why not write a check to yourself for the amount you want to make and post it on your story board? It worked for Jim Carrey and it just might work for you.

Create a Positive Affirmation or Personal Mantra

Create a saying or affirmation about what you want or who you want to be.

Write this personal, positive statement in the present. For example, “Abundance flows to me in every area of my life. My life is filled with an abundance of health, an abundance of wealth and an abundance of relationships.”

Write your positive affirmation out on post-it notes put them up everywhere. Now, if you find yourself starting to slip into negative thinking, you have your affirmation readily available to re-focus your mind positively.

Program Your Mind for Success

Most people have a negative focus.

Why is this?

I believe it’s because of what they are programming their minds with.

After most people wake up in the morning they turn on their television to the news. On the news they can see all the negative events that have gone on since they last watched the news, right before they went to bed.

What kind of programming is this?  It’s negative!

Instead, you can start your day out with a positive focus. Read your positive affirmation to yourself. Do a little exercise routine. Go for a walk and listen to a recording about something positive. Watch a motivational video.

If you aren’t careful it’s easy to slip into the old way of thinking, worrying about money, or stressing over negative things. By purposely programming yourself positively you can get yourself out of that negative cycle and remain focused on the positive.

Be Grateful

Having gratitude for what you have will attract more into your life. Gratitude acknowledges that while you may not have everything you want, you do have everything you need to succeed.

Make part of your morning routine a moment of gratitude. Be thankful each day that you have another day, for the gift of life,

Do you have a job? Give thanks for it.

Did you wake up with a roof over your head? Give thanks for it.

Do you have clean clothes to wear? Give thanks for it.

Do people love you and do you love other people? Be grateful for the people who love you and for those you love.

The only way you’ll attract more into your life is to be grateful for the things you already have.

Create a Gratitude Journal

Carry a journal with you and whenever you find something that you are grateful for, write in it.  Now whenever you feel down, you can take it out and remind yourself of all the things you are grateful for.
