Weight Loss means creating new habits.

Using NLP and hypnotherapy I’ve helped hundreds of women and quite a few men with their weight loss efforts.

When people come into my San Diego office they tell me they want me to help them “fix” their body weight issues. They want to use Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques and hypnotherapy for immediate weight loss.

That’s when I have to explain that  although hypnotherapy and NLP can help them them make the shifts about weight loss they need , weight loss  never happens overnight.

You see, permanent. long term weight loss takes a great deal of effort and commitment. You need to change your habits permanently.

To develop new habits you need to shift your thinking.

NLP and hypnotherapy works for weight loss by shifting the way you think about eating and exercise. This is how they help you permanently  reshape your body.

Nobody has a magic wand that can “fix” anything, especially your weight issues.

Unfortunately we live in a society that thinks that there are such things as “quick” weight loss solutions. You see them advertised in the media. These are things like diet pills and weight loss surgery.

 The Problems with Diet Pills 

When you examine the typical results of diet pills you’ll quickly find that they definitely are not the answer.

While it is possible to lose weight with diet pills, you will never lose weight permanently.

That’s because nearly all weight loss drugs and diet pills are only approved by the FDA for short-term use. This means a few weeks or months.

Anything longer can lead to addiction or other, even worse health problems.

The same goes for over-the-counter diet pills.

The Problem with Weight Loss Surgery

This also holds true for weight loss surgery.

While there is evidence that weight loss surgery can help a person initially lose weight, many people who use this type of surgery gain back their weight in a relatively short period of time.

Even the American Medical Association recognizes this. In the April 9, 2003 issue of JAMA, the American Medical Association advised surgeons to inform their patients that weight loss surgery is “investigational” and informing them that “it is not known whether these procedures will help them” as a permanent weight loss solution.

Why Don’t Diet Pills and Weight Loss Surgery Work?

So why don’t weight loss surgery or diet pills work?

It is because although they can be quick, these weight loss methods do not get at the root of the problem.

That root is recognizing that it is impossible to have better health and permanent weight loss without creating healthy weight management habits.

Once you create new, healthy weight management habits you can have the body you desire – for life.

Healthy, Permanent Weight Loss

Healthy permanent weight loss needs two things. These two things are good eating habits and exercise.

One problem with good eating habits that most people experience is they take time to develop.

Another problem is that you actually have to change your eating patterns.

The problem is that when you use will power to change your habits it’s hardly ever successful.Using will power alone you are very likely to fail.

In order to experience permanent change you need to change your self image.

Permanent Weight Loss = New Self Image

In order to experience permanent weight loss you need to adopt a new self image, the way you see yourself.

You need to decide what you want to look like and burn that image into your subconscious mind.

Using this image you can motivate yourself to lose the weight you want and keep it off – permanently.

This image might be a certain weight or certain dress or pant size.

Write it down or put a photo of how you want to look on the refrigerator or bring it with you to your meeting with a certified hypnotherapist or  NLP practitioner.

Using  Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques and hypnotherapy you can burn that new image deep into your subconscious mind. This can fuel your motivation and help you stay on course to your new lifestyle.
