5 Steps to Finding Happiness

Want to be happier?

People often ask me how to be happier. They want to know if I know any easy ways to find happiness.

The answer is, of course! With a little effort finding happiness is something anybody can do.

Inner Happiness

Most experts agree that happiness is an inside job. They tell us that in order to be happy you have to work on finding your inner happiness.

That’s true!

But even though happiness is an inside job, to find happiness you don’t have to sit around contemplating your navel or thinking about how you could make your life better for hours every day. There are better ways of finding happiness!

You can approach finding happiness from a different perspective, from the perspective of doing things that will make you happy.

You see, there are a few things you can do that will quickly improve your mindset which is key to you finding happiness.

Finding Happiness in Your Daily Life

So do how you find happiness? How can you have more of this elusive thing that comes both from within and from without?

Luckily, when it comes to finding more happiness in your life there are some specific things you can do.

1- Evaluate Your Relationships and Activities

Finding happiness in the people and activities in your life is the first step.

Who are you spending time with and what are you doing?

Are the people you invest time with and the activities you participate positive or negative influences in your life?

Ask yourself, do these people or activities make me happy?

If not maybe you should find different people and/or activities that will add happiness to your life.

Focusing on the positive people and activities in your life and reducing the negative people and activities in your life is the first step needed in finding happiness.

2 – Invest Time in Your Relationships

Now that you’ve evaluated your relationships invest time in them.

Making time for your relationships is crucial to your happiness. This allows you to repair the stresses and strains that appear in every relationship while building a foundation of good memories you can look back on.

Taking time for your relationships with your spouse or partner, children, friends and other members of your family is one of the best ways to find happiness as well as build more of it.

3- Get Rid Of Unhealthy Habits  

Do you have any unhealthy habits? Then get rid of them!

If you smoke quit – it is the best thing you can do for your health.

If you are overweight adapt some different eating and exercise habits that will help you reduce your weight. As the incidence of type II diabetes continues to rise, being overweight is now only second to smoking as a health risk.

Getting rid of unhealthy habits are ways to feel better both physically and mentally. Of course this will help you in finding the happiness you desire.

4 – Adapt Healthy Habits

Now that you’ve decided to get rid of unhealthy habits start some healthy ones!

If you’ve been overweight develop a weight management plan of eating healthy foods and exercising. This will help you look and feel great!

If you’ve given up a habit like smoking then find an active sport or activity that gets you out of your chair and moving. This will rebuild your body.

Make a commitment to be as healthy as you can be.

5 – Examine Your Career

Examine your career. Are you happy?

If not, what would you rather do? What steps do you need to take to have the opportunity to do whatever it is?

Now that you know the steps write out a plan that will get you started on a path that brings you a career that will give you more joy and happiness.

Use these Steps to Find Happiness

There you have it, 5 steps to finding happiness.

But they’ll only work if you do.

Go through this short list and try implementing just one or two items today. As Confucius once said, “Every journey begins with the first step.”
