Easy Methods for Finding Inner Peace

When negative emotions take center stage, life can feel very chaotic.

To overcome these negative emotions you need to develop inner peace.

Here are some simple ways of finding inner peace in even the stormiest moments:

1. Work within Your Abilities

Sometimes you just have to remember the Serenity Prayer;

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can,

And wisdom to know the difference.”

Everyone has their limitations.  There are some things that you can’t resolve. Instead of beating your head against the wall, learn to accept what you can and cannot change.

As the Serenity Prayer points out, you don’t have to know all the answers.

• Instead of allowing guilt to eat away at you, focus on giving all you have to the task at hand. This will allow you to be at peace knowing you’ve done all you can.

• This doesn’t mean giving up at the first obstacle you encounter. It’s always okay to push yourself a little harder. Just avoid doing pushing yourself to the point of burn out.

2. Keep a Clear Conscience  

Keeping a clear conscience and finding inner peace go hand in hand. When things aren’t going the way you want it can sometimes seem better to take an easier route.

Just beware. An easier route that compromises your integrity can be disabling. Make sure you act according to what your conscience dictates.

This way, no matter your results you’ll be able to hold your head high and be proud of your decisions and accomplishments!

• If you messed up accidentally, forget about it! Don’t carry around al that unnecessary guilt especially when you know you haven’t purposely wronged anyone.

• If something doesn’t work out or you have an unfortunate outcome, acknowledge the part you played in the situation in the open, apologize if necessary and then move on!

• The more honest you are with others the easier it is to be to be honest with yourself.

3. Be Kind and Courteous to Everyone  

Being kind and courteous to everyone is one of the easiest ways to find happiness. I challenge you to try this for a month and keep track of the outcome.

No matter how frustrated you are, no matter how right you are, before every interaction with another person, remind yourself that you are talking with a fellow human being. Tell yourself, “I’m going to treat this person like I would want to be treated”.

If you do this every day for a month you’ll be surprised at how much more peaceful you’ll feel!

• Just using basic courtesies like “Please” and “Thank you” really do go a long way in finding inner peace. Try using these at every opportunity and see how at ease it makes you feel.

• Make your motto “I’m going to make this person glad they saw me today!”

4. Maintain an Attitude of Gratitude for What You Already Have

“When you are grateful – when you can see what you have – you unlock blessings to flow in your life.”Suze Orman

No matter how hard you try, no matter how much you want something some desired achievements will elude you.

When this happens, take a moment to reflect on what you’ve already attained and received.

When you take the time to reflect on your blessings you just might find that your feelings surprise you!

• Instead of thinking about what you haven’t achieved, consider what you already have. Finding inner peace starts with being thankful for what you have.

Finding Inner Peace Comes from Being Happy with Who You Are and What You Already Have

If you take a moment to look around you’ll probably find that there are that there are lots of people who would love to have what you have. Around the world there are people who would gladly change places with you today.

That should be enough to tell you that you have a lot!

Be happy with who you are and what you have. That’s the true path to finding inner peace.
