Hypnotherapy what is it, where does it come from? How does hypnosis work?
These are some of the questions I asked when I first started learning about hypnosis as I was studying psychology at University of San Diego. I had heard that hypnotherapy was an excellent method of making positive changes, quick and significant shifts in thinking that were long-lasting. I had hear that a classmate of mine was a hypnotist and asked if she would work with me.
Being a professional hypnotist she agreed. Not only that, she recommended books to me about hypnosis that started me on my path to become a professional hypnotist.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is actually the use of hypnosis in a clinical setting. The word “hypnos” comes from the ancient Greek Hypnos who was the god of sleep. But hypnosis isn’t a form of sleep. It’s actually a mental state where you can easily absorb new ideas into your subconscious mind. Continue reading
