The Conscious Mind
The conscious mind is the rational, logical mind. It is responsible for thinking and acting. It is the part of your mind you are most aware of.
Your conscious mind is better at the following tasks:
- Sequential processing
- Linear processing
- Analytical thinking (such as mathematics)
The subconscious mind is called that because it operates below your normal level of waking consciousness. It takes care of all your routine, repetitive tasks. These are tasks like breathing, heartbeat and digestion. Things that you usually don’t think about.
The subconscious mind works better with the following tasks:
- Taking care of the body (heartbeat, etc.)
- Holistic thinking
- Dealing with emotions
By better understanding their functions you can be more aware of how your two minds work apart.

You can use NLP to better understand your mind’s separation. This understanding makes it easier for you to combine them.
