As a Master NLP Practitioner and Hypnotherapist I often see people that are affected have difficulty sleeping or have insomnia. Some who come to my San Diego Office have been affected by insomnia for as many as 20 years and have come to me because they are tired of the medical treatment given them by their doctors. These are treatments like using Ambien and other pharmaceutical drugs.
Why Do You Have difficulty Sleeping?
There are many reasons for having insomnia but nearly all of them are a product of your mind. Your mind just won’t let you sleep.
Although there are times when physical injuries and sickness can keep you awake, and the use or abuse of substances can affect your sleep, 95% of the people I see that want to cure their insomnia tell me they can’t sleep because their mind just won’t “shut off”.
Are You Too Stressed Out to Sleep?
People that have difficulty sleeping often lay awake thinking about their job or their kids, their taxes. You name it and they are thinking about it. As a result they experience trouble sleeping.
Is Your Mind Keeping You Awake?
Do you stay awake thinking about how your job? Do you worry about how your child is not doing as well in school as you’d like? Do you worry about a good friend that is suffering from sickness and depression?
If you are you are not alone!
These are the types of things that keep insomniacs awake at night as they continue to spin them over and over in their heads. They find they have trouble sleeping night after night.
As a result their whole life suffers.
Using Hypnosis for Insomnia – Case Study
A while back a lady came to me in my San Diego office because she was having extremely severe problems sleeping. She told me that she hadn’t slept more than two or three hours at a time in nearly six months.
There were a lot of things going on in her life. The two worst were that she had a teenager that was acting out and her father had cancer.
The result was she would think about these things in bed at night and, as a result of thinking about them, she was having difficulty sleeping. The effects of insomnia on her life were she was missing work, her relationship with her husband was strained and she was exhausted.
How to Cure Insomnia with Hypnosis as Sleep Therapy
After discussing her situation with me she decided to go through a few sessions of hypnosis sleep therapy with me. In these sessions I used hypnotherapy and NLP to help her to focus on things she had control over while letting go of things that she had no control over.
I also gave her a series of sleep hypnosis recordings I recorded to listen to at night as she fell to sleep at night. I also gave here a simple NLP trigger she could use to use to calm her thoughts if her mind became overactive and made it difficult to fall asleep.
The Results of Using NLP and Hypnosis for Insomnia
Her results were staggering. She found that since she had been spending a lot of time with her father her husband had felt neglected. They figured out a plan to that allowed them to have time together which made both of them feel better about their relationship.
She made time to talk with her teenager a couple of times a week and she started focusing on what he did right instead of what he did wrong. These two adjustments caused a huge change in his behavior for the better. He stopped acting out and his grades improved to A’s and B’s.
She also continued to love her father while realizing that there was nothing more she could do to improve his health.
More importantly she learned to control her anxiety and started sleeping again. As a result her performance at work improved and she was given a raise!
What is interesting is that I didn’t make any of these suggestions directly to her but rather they came about as a result of her relaxing in trance and allowing her subconscious mind to develop a plan for her to deal with her sleeping issues. She discovered the reasons for her insomnia and developed a plan to deal with them by herself.
