“The conscious mind may be compared to a fountain playing in the sun and falling back into the great subterranean pool of subconscious from which it rises.” – Sigmund Freud
Have you ever considered the power of your subconscious mind?
From the types of food you eat to the actions you take each day, your subconscious mind tremendously affects how you go through life. Your subconscious beliefs and interpretations shade and color your experiences and set you up for success or failure.
Think of your subconscious mind as an auto-pilot that is pre-programmed to follow a specific route. The problem with an auto-pilot is if you want to change directions you need to re-program it or it will keep going in a direction you may not want to go.
As a hypnotherapist I often hear interesting ideas about what hypnosis is and what it can do. As I see clients in my San Diego office I often find the need to debunk some of the myths my clients have heard about hypnosis.
One of the biggest questions I get is “Does hypnosis work?”
When I hear this I want to blurt out, “No it’s just a big fake, that’s why I have invested so much time and money learning about it” but I don’t. I want them to understand what a powerful tool hypnosis can be for them and for overcoming the issue that is facing them.
Getting the Most From Your First Hypnotherapy Session
Over the years thousands of clients have come for help with hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming Techniques for many types of situations to my San Diego office. After they complete their first session they often rave about how relaxed they were and how much better they already feel.
When I ask them why they hadn’t tried hypnosis before many of them admit that they were afraid because of the misinformation they had mostly about hypnosis (that’s because very few people usually know much about Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques or NLP). They were also a little intimidated because they just didn’t want to admit they needed help.
Some clients come to my San Diego office looking for ways to, in the words of Dale Carnegie, win friends and influence people and, because they have heard NLP can help, want me to teach them Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques for building rapport. Here’s what I teach them…
NLP and Rapport
It doesn’t matter if you want to win friends and influence people for business reasons or for personal reasons such as meeting someone you’re romantically interested in, Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP rapport building techniques are very practical for anyone wanting to start or improve their relationships.
This is because these Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques can help you build almost instant rapport with almost anyone, nearly any time you’d like.
As a master NLP Practitioner and Hypnotist I am very aware of the power that hypnosis has in helping people achieve their goals and dreams. In fact the reason I started my practice in San Diego of helping people with advanced hypnotherapy (hypnosis) and Neuro Linguistic programming or NLP was because of the many benefits I’ve personally received.
How I Was Introduced to Hypnosis
Way back in the early 1980’s I was attending the University of San Diego. While there I met a fellow student who was a professional hypnotherapist. Up to this time I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a professional hypnotist. I went to a few sessions with her and she recommended some books to me which I read. Since then I’ve read hundreds of books and articles about hypnosis. Continue reading →
